I learned a new audio editor for editing the podcast, and while I didn’t use it during my internship directly. Jakob did give me the final push to dive into learning a new piece of non-Adobe software.

REAPER works quite a bit differently then Audition, but it’s way more customizable, and the workflow overall is a lot quicker, it has a ripple mode, where your editing actions on one clip, affect the positions of all the clips after it. In Audition I’d have to use a custom shortcut to select all the clips after the cursor every time. Also the ReaFIR plugin is a lot better at noise cancelation, and the dynamics plugin for compression is a lot nicer.

some nice resources are:

  • REAPER for podcasting
  • REAPER Mania has a tutorial on almost everything you could want out of the software.
  • There’s also an unofficial discord server for Reaper, which is quite a nice place to ask for advice.
